There was a talk at church the other day about "Drops of Awesome". Sometimes we catch ourselves doing something great in terms of parenting, and while we feel a quick moment of pride and accomplishment, it is often followed quickly by guilt that we didn't do that positive thing sooner or more often. This guy quoted another Mom in saying, "When we have a great parenting moments, we just need to chalk it up to......that was a drop of awesome.....and leave it at that". Sure, try to have another one soon, but certainly don't beat yourself up for the moments you might have missed. Always look forward and just try to do better. That's all the Lord asks of us.
We had another FHE this week on Honesty. I didn't document it in any way but here is the jist of it and the link for the object lesson.
Early in the day, we watch the movie Pinocchio together and talked about the honestly lesson in it.
When it was time for FHE, I used the scripture story about the
Anti-Nephi-Lehi’s changing from a TERRIBLE lying, murderous people to a
perfectly honest people, and the effects of their choice on their children (the
2,000 stripling warriors).
Alma 27:27 (The decide to become PERFECTLY honest is
all things)
Alma 53:20-21 (Because of their choice, their SONS were men
of truth as well)
Alma 24:9-11 (The merits of Christ saved us!)
While we were working through this story, I used this object lesson when it correlated to the story.
We
finished up by reading Hebrews 13:18 and made a family pact to try to
be more perfectly honest. (and let me just say that the next day,
Morgan kept taking back what she said to say a MORE honest version of
it).
Because
we are heading to Utah soon to go to Temple Square for the first time
as a family, we watched the movie Legacy with our bowls of ice cream.
